I've written before about my love for scary stories at Halloween. I love reading scary books at this time of year. I am finishing a book of stories that I started last year, and I have two books checked out from the library (Episode Thirteen and Night Side of the River.) I haven't started them yet, so I really can't say. The book of stories from last year isn't great, but I'm reading one now that I think I've read once before and I think it really scared me, so maybe it's getting better.

I went on a bookstore crawl recently and picked up a really cute book of poems covered in Jack-o-Lanterns: Poems Bewitched and Haunted. I've been dipping into it for the last week.

I also have several movies that I like to watch. I tend to like things with ghosts that are a little scary but not absolutely horrifying. These are mostly movies that I've watched for years, and they make me feel nostalgic, which is a good autumnal feeling. I saw Practical Magic in the theaters, and Ghostbusters, too.

These are my usuals:

Fairly modern:

Practical Magic

Beetlejuice

Ghostbusters (1 and 2)

Classics for grownups:

The Ghost and Mr. Chicken

Arsenic and Old Lace

The Ghost and Mrs. Muir

Classics for kids:

It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown

"Lonesome Ghosts" (Mickey Mouse), "Trick or Treat" (Donald Duck), "The Skeleton Dance" on Disney+

My all-time favorite scary movie:

The Haunting

not that one...

this one!!!

I also have a few things that I like to listen to. The streaming service I use, LiveXLive has a fun Halloween Party station, with songs like "I Put a Spell on You," "Monster Mash," and, of course, "Thriller." I also sometimes look up "Danse Macabre" online to listen to around Halloween. It's creepy.

Happy Halloween, everyone :)
